{"id":7305,"date":"2019-04-07T19:40:15","date_gmt":"2019-04-07T18:40:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/?p=7305"},"modified":"2019-04-07T19:42:33","modified_gmt":"2019-04-07T18:42:33","slug":"hands-on-course-on-arthropods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/wordpress\/hands-on-course-on-arthropods\/","title":{"rendered":"Hands on course on arthropods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Entomology-Summer-school-leaflet_page1_image5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-7306 size-full\" style=\"border: 0px solid #000000;\" src=\"https:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Entomology-Summer-school-leaflet_page1_image5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"197\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a>T<\/strong>he Parasitology and Entomology team at the National Veterinary School of Toulouse, France, is organising an entomology course which will be held from the 26th to 30th of August 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The title of the course will be: \u201cHands on Course on Arthropods of Medical and Veterinary Significance: A global perspective, from theory to practice\u201d, highlighting the \u2018Global and One Health\u2019 thematic approach chosen for this summer school.<\/p>\n<p>The course will highlight topics such as arthropod-borne diseases, resistance in arthropod populations, control tools, principles of laboratory rearing and morphological identification of arthropods of medical and veterinary importance.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers include Prof Steve Torr from the Liverpool Tropical School, and Prof Richard Wall, from Bristol University. Dr Emilie Bouhsira, Prof Michel Franc, Prof Philippe Jacquiet and Dr Emmanuel Li\u00e9nard form the scientific committee organising the course.<a href=\"https:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Entomology-Summer-school-leaflet_page1_image2-e1554661712167.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7303 size-full\" style=\"border: 0px solid #000000;\" src=\"https:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Entomology-Summer-school-leaflet_page1_image2-e1554661712167.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"65\" \/><\/a>The course will encompass several arthropod groups, namely sand flies, mosquitoes, midges (<em>Culicoides spp<\/em>.),\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Tabanidae, Muscidae<\/em>, fleas, bedbugs, ticks and mites (Dermanyssidae and\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Sarcoptidae<\/em>). Lectures will generally take place in the morning, while the afternoon will be dedicated to laboratory and field work.<\/p>\n<p>Fees: 450 euros for students and EVPC residents, 950 euros for other participants.
