{"id":3001,"date":"2015-05-12T10:42:15","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T09:42:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/?p=3001"},"modified":"2015-05-22T14:02:54","modified_gmt":"2015-05-22T13:02:54","slug":"restriction-on-live-birds-eggs-raw-poultry-products-raw-pet-foods-from-oregon-and-washington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/wordpress\/restriction-on-live-birds-eggs-raw-poultry-products-raw-pet-foods-from-oregon-and-washington\/","title":{"rendered":"Restriction on Live Birds, Eggs, Raw Poultry Products, Raw Pet Foods from Oregon and Washington"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said January 8 that it is \u201cimplementing measures to protect Canada\u2019s poultry resources\u201d from an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza reported in poultry in the states of Oregon and Washington, USA.<\/p>\n<p>Due to this outbreak, all birds, all raw poultry and all poultry products and by-products that are not fully cooked, including eggs and raw pet foods, sourced, processed, packaged or shipped from the states of Oregon and Washington are prohibited from entry into Canada until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>These measures are a normal part of Canada\u2019s animal disease control efforts and are consistent with international guidelines on trade.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of prohibited items include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Live birds and hatching eggs<\/li>\n<li>Eggs, yolks, egg whites (albumen)<\/li>\n<li>Poultry meat (other than fully cooked, canned, commercially sterile meat products)<\/li>\n<li>Raw pet foods containing poultry products<\/li>\n<li>Feathers<\/li>\n<li>Poultry manure and litter<\/li>\n<li>Laboratory material containing poultry products\/by-products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CFIA says there is \u201cno food safety risk\u201d associatedwith these products, and the measures are being taken to prevent the introduction of avian influenza into other parts of Canada.<br \/>\nSource: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inspection.gc.ca\" target=\"_blank\">www.inspection.gc.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Published in<\/strong> World Food Regulation Review &#8211; January 2015 issue<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said January 8 that it is \u201cimplementing measures to protect Canada\u2019s poultry resources\u201d from an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza reported in poultry in the states of Oregon and Washington, USA.
