PestEx takes place on 25-26th March 2015 in London, and attracts a global audience of over 2,000 people. Reflecting the world-wide appeal of PestEx, entry to the poster competition is open to anyone across the world who has carried out research into public health pest control in the period 1st January 2013 to 31st December 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.b-one.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2609 size-full\" style=\"border: 0px solid #ffffff;\" src=\"http:\/\/international-pest-control.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Brandenburg-Creating-Better-Logo-JPEG_300x59.jpg\" alt=\"Brandenburg\" width=\"300\" height=\"59\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brandenburg, world&#8217;s leading manufacturer of flying and biting insect control systems and air sterilisation products (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.b-one.com\">www.b-one.com<\/a>) has added its support to the inaugural IPC\/PestEx 2015 Scientific poster competition with added financial sponsorship for the winner and second place prizes. With a range of technically advanced products, Brandenburg has established a global reputation for supplying innovative products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Shortlisted posters will be displayed on the walls of the exhibition during the two days of PestEx, with the winning poster in pride of place.<\/p>\n<p>David Loughlin, IPC Editor and Chairman of the judging panel said: \u201cIPC takes pride in reflecting and promoting the latest research in pest control and encouraging knowledge sharing; this competition is aimed at showcasing new research in our field, allowing students, academics and pest control professionals from across the globe to share information with their peers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The competition requires entrants to present their research on a poster in terms that can be understood by a pest controller. The judging criteria will include:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Relevance to the subject of public health pest control<\/li>\n<li>Clear statement of the purpose\/objective\/hypothesis of the research<\/li>\n<li>Demonstration of originality and innovation<\/li>\n<li>Clear explanation of methods and materials<\/li>\n<li>Research and experimental results that support the conclusion and\/or expected results<\/li>\n<li>Written clearly and concisely<\/li>\n<li>Application to real-life situations<\/li>\n<li>Readability of text (in English)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For more information visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bpca.org.uk\/pages\/index.cfm?page_id=61&amp;pestex\" target=\"_blank\">www.bpca.org.uk\/pestex<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Rules of entry<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>poster must be A1 size (59.4cm x 84.1cm)<\/li>\n<li>poster must be portrait format<\/li>\n<li>entry must be in English<\/li>\n<li>A4 versions of the poster\/abstract may be used as handouts, and will be used to judge the competition<\/li>\n<li>no additional material may be used or added to the poster (e.g. laptop demonstration, speaker in poster, anything stuck on the poster, flaps or lifts)<\/li>\n<li>entrant name, title of poster and name of entrant\u2019s employer\/university must be clearly presented on the poster<\/li>\n<li>one QR code at the bottom right hand corner of the A1 poster WILL be permitted.\u00a0\u00a0 The QR code will be for information only and used in the same way as a website address on a business card.\u00a0 The additional information gained from the QR code will not be taken into account in the judging process. Entrants should NOT use the QR code as an alternative to illustrating their posters or explaining their research clearly to the judges.\u00a0 Judges are not permitted to view material gained from a QR code until after judging is complete.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>1st place prize<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a3750\/$1000 &#8211; kindly donated by Brandenburg.<\/li>\n<li>A two year individual subscription worth \u00a385\/US$170 per year or a one year Institutional subscription worth \u00a3156\/US$312 to IPC magazine.\u00a0 Latter includes a single site licence and both provide with online access to all back issues from 2004.<\/li>\n<li>A British Pest Management Manual worth \u00a3115\/$177.<\/li>\n<li>The winning abstract will also be published in full in the May\/June 2015 edition of IPC Magazine and summarised in Professional Pest Controller Magazine.<\/li>\n<li>Poster displayed pride of place at PestEx 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>2nd place prize<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a3350\/$500 &#8211; kindly donated by Brandenburg.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Entry procedure<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To enter the competition, please visit www.bpca.org.uk\/pestex and complete and return the entry form by<br \/>\n1st December 2014.\u00a0 Abstracts must be returned by 28 February 2015. You do not need to submit your printed poster by this date, but obviously it will need to be sent to IPC by early March 2015 for inclusion in the Exhibition.\u00a0 Further details for the com- petition will be sent to entrants.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Competition and judging<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Entries will be judged in advance of PestEx, and a selection process will identify the winner, whose name will be announced on the morning of 25 March 2015. A maximum of ten shortlisted posters will be displayed in the Exhibition area, and the winning poster will be highlighted.
