BPCA launches new digital event PestExtra as PestEx postponed until 2022
British Pest Control Association is launching a brand new digital event following the tough decision to postpone PestEx 2021.
Given the most recent government guidance surrounding events, BPCA has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone PestEx until 16-17 March 2022.
In its place will be PestExtra – taking place over Tuesday 16, Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 March 2021, it’s the familiar PestEx vibe in an all-digital environment.
“PestExtra is a 3-day conference and tradeshow that brings together thought-leaders and public health pest experts from far and wide. You can access all the usual great pest management content from the comfort of your own home or office”.
BPCA President, Philip Halpin, commented:
“With the continued uncertainty around the Covid-19 pandemic, local lockdowns and international travel, the decision was made to minimise the risk to visitors, exhibitors and staff within the halls by postponing the event.
“PestExtra is all about getting the pest management sector together – even in difficult times. We want to connect pest professionals from around the world and celebrate the incredible work we do to protect public health.
“We’re excited to bring you this digital alternative to our flagship trade show, and we hope to see you all there!”
What you’ll see
As usual, there will be seminars, product demonstrations, scavenger hunts, CPD trails, competitions, plus a vast virtual trade hall that will keep business owners, technicians and specialists engaged throughout.
You’ll be able to interact and network with the latest pest control technology and services from the world’s leading suppliers of pest control products and services.
It’s an opportunity to learn, network and share in a completely digital environment over three action-packed days.
PestExtra will be free to attend for BPCA member companies and UK-based pest management companies (up to 5 free tickets for non-members). Those wishing to attend from outside of the UK will be able to do so for a nominal price (which will still be far cheaper than flights and hotels to London!).
This digital pest management show will be easy to access. View the show in your internet browser or through our dedicated PestExtra app.
With increased direction from the authorities and growing demand for sustainable agriculture it is certain it will continue to experience unprecedented growth. However, there is still uncertainty from within the industry on how to get products effectively into the market. Issues with regulation, testing and registration still prove a major challenge, as well as efficacy and scaling up production.
The inaugural Global Biocontrol Conference 2021 is the premier event for leading experts in the biocontrol industry. This 100% virtual event will be the first of Wisdom’s upcoming agro portfolio, and will bring together producers of biocontrol agents and associations representing them, independent researchers and laboratories, registration and testing service providers, regulatory bodies, biotechnology specialists, consultants, market analysts, distributors of agro-chemical products, growers and academia.
The Conference will address these issues by delivering insightful presentations from leading experts in the biocontrol sector across the world, as well as interactive panel discussions, practical workshops, and excellent networking opportunities.
Even before the pandemic hit in 2020, the urban pest management industry has been facing challenges on several fronts – from climate change, regulatory issues to pest resistance concerns. But alongside this, are also outstanding innovations in pest management techniques, chemical inputs and devices, as well as progressive business and operational strategies that are poised to keep our industry strong and enduring. Because as pests adapt, so shall we. On October 6, 7, 8, 2021, let us push on and brave the new normal with our best defence—education. Hear and learn from industry experts and leaders on the latest pest management strategies, products and technologies. Get deeper and new insights on how pests have evolved, as well as business management principles and the reality of digitalization.
Every year, NPMA gathers thousands of pest management professionals from across the globe to offer opportunities for information sharing, provide access to the latest products, services, and technologies in the 100,000 square foot exhibit hall, and generate critical thinking in world-class educational sessions.

The International Conference on Urban Pests (ICUP) brings together those with a professional interest in urban pests. Every three years, participants from academia, industry, government and professional pest control, come from all over the world to meet at the ICUP and share research and ideas. This year the institution that hosts the conference is the Agència de Salut Pública de Barcelona (ASPB).
Sadly, the current situation has led us to postpone, once again, the celebration of the tenth edition of the ICUP until the summer of 2022. The health of the attendees has and will always be our main concern. Despite the adversities, we face this situation with enthusiasm and optimism. Urban Pest Control has shown its ability to adapt and overcome during this pandemic.
We are convinced that Barcelona will offer an unbeatable setting to get together, meet each other again and enjoy a unique Congress. Until then, we will continue our efforts to organize the best possible event. Of course, with the best possible health and safety measures.
In the 10th edition that we will celebrate in 2020+2, the Spanish Organizing Committee in charge of the Conference will maintain the classic main topics but introduce several new features related to ICUP’s spirit and aims. In the 10th ICUP Conference the organization initials will be relevant each day of the meeting.
“I” means “International” that in terms of Pest Management we can interpret as “No borders” situation to fight against pests. Globalization is one of the most relevant drivers of new and old pest invasions worldwide. The massive and quick movement of people and goods all over the world has facilitated the expansion of arthropod, mammal and bird pests. Once established in urban environments they cause economic, health and structural damage. A global view of pest processes is needed since new harmful organisms can arrive to cities at any moment due to globalization and climate change. Consequently, networking of pest management professionals and awareness of pest situations are mandatory preventive measures for any city. During the “I” day we will focus the Plenary Session on this topic of “Globalization and Pest Management”.
“U” means “Urban”, which is our working landscape. The urban concept is strongly dynamic and has also notably changed in the last 100 years. Different types of urbanization processes and diverse urban plans can influence pest problems. Consequently, architects and other professionals directly involved in urban planning are key partners for pest managers. Moreover, urbanization has also a collateral impact on pest behavior. Cities are artificial environments that can cause changes in the ethology and reproduction of “urban fauna”. Understanding these factors and changes is crucial to design and implement efficient urban pest management programs, especially in relation to urban disease vectors such as mosquitoes, sandflies and rodents. All these aspects will be discussed in the Plenary Session of this day (the “U” day) of the Conference.
“P” means “Pests”, which is our key concept. Pest is a circumstantial, arbitrary and anthropocentric concept. The determination of tolerance and economic impact thresholds to make decisions on pest management is not easy and varies depending on different cities and social, cultural and legal factors. Moreover, new pests or “urban fauna” are emerging in different parts of the world. Some traditionally non-urban animals like parrots, wild boars, scorpions and snakes, are increasing their impact in cities worldwide. These topics will be discussed during the “P” day, of the Conference.
The last initial is “C” which correspond the “Conference”. The Conference is the space we have to discuss “I”, “U” and “P”. It is the forum for the exchange of technical and scientific ideas the enhancement of communication and cooperation among all those professionals working with urban pests worldwide.
