Pest Control and Public Health – International Exhibition & Conference
plenary presentations
– interactive Q&A / panel discussions
– call for abstracts
– poster displays
– product demonstrations / exhibitions
– networking receptions
– and more!
Session 1 – Vectors, reservoirs and zoonoses: an NTD perspective
Session 2 – Human, livestock and vector data: integrated surveillance for global health
Session 3 – Olfaction in vector-host interaction: repellents & traps
Session 4 – Technology focus for vector-control & global health
Salient themes for this year’s conference include:
- Animal Health & Veterinary Approaches (including treatment of bovine populations in HAT and impact to human disease burden, vaccines, netting, surveillance etc.)
- Repellents (issues covering the hard science – genetic mechanisms of olfactory pathways that can be exploited, spatial repellents, trap technology, bringing repellents into a fully integrated vector control programme etc.)
- Surveillance (identifying gaps in disease, vector and policy coverage and addressing the technologies available. Enhanced collaboration between global health and veterinary structures.)
- Novel Insecticides / Larvicides (what are the novel mechanisms of action in research, targets, novel technologies that can assist this R&D, screening, modelling, chemistry libraries etc.)
- Netting (synergies between Malaria and Lymphatic Filariasis vector control, new textiles that can incorporate new wave of polymer enhanced insecticides, in-field distribution issues how to overcome these by bringing together NGOs and distribution networks through education and supply chain efficiencies)
- Water management for vector-control (what are some of the latest concepts and products assisting in treating water for mosquito- or other vector control; how can we best impact community behaviour and uptake)
About PestEx
Hosted by the British Pest Control Association (BPCA), PestEx is the premier event for anyone involved in the pest control industry. From pest management business owners to pest control technicians out on the road PestEx has been devised with you in mind.
PestEx attracts over 2,000 visitors over the two days from all over the world, with a high volume of UK and European visitors. Our visitor list includes Business owners, Technicians, Consultants, Public Health Authorities, Governmental Bodies, Trusts, Charities, Associations and overseas visitors involved in the pest control industry.
Seminar programme
As well as the exhibitors in the exhibition hall, you’ll find a number seminars and technical sessions designed to provide you with the latest industry news, developments and innovations. Everything in our seminar and technical programme is presented by industry experts, key organisations and exhibitors. All of our sessions will be free to attend and worth 1 CPD point with BASIS PROMPT.
Join the National Pest Management Association and the Confederation of European Pest Management Associations for a global summit created to address pest management services in terms of the needs of the food, food service, retail, hospitality and other service business sectors.

The theme of the convention is: “Managing Invasive Pests for a Sustainable Tomorrow”. The world is almost borderless today, and geographical boundary is no longer an issue. Pests (just like humans) are also expected to move freely from one location to another via various means. Because of globalization of trade and tourism these also brought about increased movement of invasive alien pest species. Sustainable Pest Management emphasizes the need for attention not only to ecological, environmental, and economic aspects, but also to the social and management dimensions. Therefore this approach focuses on ‘protecting’ the human life, buildings and structures, and the landscapes.
The impact of climate change and invasive pest species are the two key drivers of the world’s biodiversity loss today. Research findings further implied that Climate change is already having a measurable impact on species distributions, reproduction and behavior, and all evidence suggests that things will get worse even if we act tomorrow to mitigate any future increases in greenhouse gas emissions: temperature will increase, precipitation will change, sea level will rise and ocean chemistry will change. At the same time, invasions of pest species into foreign habitats remain an important threat to biodiversity, causing species loss, changes in distribution and habitat degradation. With these two threats acting together, the impacts of each of these drivers of change are compounded and interactions between these two threats present even greater challenges to Regional Pest Management Industry as well as policymakers. Similarly, the social and economic impacts of climate change and invasive species, already substantial, will be magnified. Awareness of the links between the two should underpin all biodiversity management planning and policy is critical for the Industry to explore this direction.
The 26th Convention will provide the platform to establish a structured approach and better understanding of invasive pest species with the objective to inform the Pest Management industry how we can take the appropriate action.
