David Loughlin - International Pest Control

David Loughlin has a career spanning almost 30 years in pest management. At Bangor University, North Wales he studied Forestry and Applied Zoology and followed this with a post graduate course in Applied Entomology (Pest Management) at Imperial College, Silwood Park. David has held different research and commercial roles, all with a strong technical focus, for both large chemical corporations such as ICI Plant Protection, Welcome Environmental Health and Sandoz, and also smaller innovative biological companies such as AgriSense-BCS.

His broad international experience covers an interesting period in the development of pest management from classical pesticide spray application to the recent rise in biological and low environmental impact solutions. Acknowledging that the 3 “R”’s of Resistance, Registration and Residues are having a significant impact on the market place he sees International Pest Control (IPC) magazine as the ideal forum for everyone to share and promote their pest control experiences whichever organism is regarded as the pest.

David’s experience embraces most of the industry segments that IPC magazine aims to cover: crop, non-crop and animal health.  An Ulsterman by birth, a dog owner, amateur photographer, keen gardener and hill walker, David currently runs an international pest management consultancy and product supply business from his base in South Wales, UK.
