PestTech 2019 @ The Marshall Arena
Nov 6 all-day

Described as the event for pest control technicians, this annual gathering of more than 1,000 pest controllers will showcase the very latest information, featuring over 50 exhibitors and a full programme of presentations.

CPD points will be available for attending the exhibition as well as for every seminar and demonstration.

Following on from the amazing success of last year’s event at the custom-built Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, we have decided to hold our PestTech event there again this year.

The feedback we received last year was overwhelmingly positive, from both exhibitors and pest controllers who attended. We have been very impressed with the facilities at the Marshall Arena, so we are greatly looking forward to this year’s event.

So, set your SatNav for MK1 1ST or check out the details at: https://www.stadiummk.com/visit/getting-here-parking/  and we’ll see you on the 6th of November.

The BCPC Congress 2019 @ Hilton Brighton Metropole
Nov 19 – Nov 20 all-day

The BCPC Congress 2019 – “Understanding the demands and opportunities of a “Green Brexit” – how do we deliver food production alongside environmental enhancement?”

The 2019 BCPC Congress will focus on a wide range of topics relating to how intensification of food production can be reconciled with environmental enhancement. The Congress will seek to unearth the many issues resulting from the UK Government’s agricultural policy framework, regardless of the UK’s future relationship with the EU, in which farmers will be paid to deliver biodiversity, cultural landscapes, high quality water, air and soil rather than food.

The science, technology and policy issues relating to the national debate on how to support UK farming and food production whilst meeting the highest environmental and safety standards will be explored in a series of sessions.

Day 1 will start with a plenary session on delivering both improved food production and “public goods”. This is followed by parallel sessions , a) on current regulatory issues for pesticides and new breeding techniques and b) on science-based agriculture, focusing on advances in applying crop production inputs to achieve future improvements in yields and environmental protection

Day 2 will address key technical and regulatory areas relating to “Green Brexit” agricultural and environmental policy. It will cover critical considerations for greatly increased implementation of IPM and the opportunities and regulatory challenges of precision agriculture, which will be the focus for this year’s CRD (HSE, Chemicals Regulation Division) interactive workshop.

CRD Workshop: “Regulating new agricultural technologies”

This year’s interactive workshop will focus on the fast-growing field of greater precision in crop protection applications, which can improve crop production and reduce the risk of undesired exposures to people and the environment. It will investigate the Regulatory opportunities and challenges arising from developments such as:

  • Robotics, machine-learning interfaces, including interactions with operators, ‘big data’
  • Treatments informed in real-time, e.g. by remote sensing, diagnostics, best IPM practice and resistance management guidelines
  • Application-specific formulations
  • Delivery of ‘bespoke’ doses for spot-treatment of pests, weeds or diseases

The key aim is to get early inputs from stakeholders to inform/develop regulatory systems in a way that maximises the benefits.

The Biopesticide Summit & Awards 2020 @ The NEC
May 19 – May 20 all-day

The Biopesticide Summit & Awards 2020 will bring together scientists, researchers, key industry stakeholders, government organizations, investors, policy makers and integrated pest management practitioners to discuss the challenges faced and the future opportunities. The summit will also provide insights from end-use markets giving updates on product performance in different sectors.

There is an urgent need to develop novel products and application technologies to not only “fill the gaps” in the market due to chemical pesticide removal, but also to combat resistance to currently used pesticides. In addition, there is increasing consumer led retailer demand for growers to reduce the use of chemical pesticides in crop production and to grow fruit and vegetables with reduced detectable residues. Despite significant growth in the biocontrol industry, major limitations with current biopesticide products are still apparent. Register to attend the Biopesticide Summit & Awards 2020 to be part of the solution!

The Summit is the annual meeting of the World BioProtection Forum.
