A farewell from Nigel Binns
Three years ago, I was lucky to add an excellent and rewarding role to my CV – that of Editor of International Pest Control. Today, as I prepare to depart my position, I’m happy to report that the magazine is being passed to the very capable hands. I’m still very active in pest control and environmental management, through my consultancy Elytra Ltd, through the pest control servicing company Pestex Services and as Secretary to the International Fertiliser Society. I might even take on a few more hats while I’m at it!
In my time as Editor, we have covered a huge and interesting range of topics, including the development of new pesticides and their safe use; major disease outbreaks; evolving technology and company developments; and new pests, businesses and opportunities around the world. We have improved the look of the magazine, with more illustrations and photographs to help illustrate the articles. The job of pest control is very practical but also highly technical, and it’s our fascination with all things ‘pest’ that makes the industry unique and vital, and helps us protect and shape the future.
So goodbye to me as Editor, but continued ‘hellos’ to you all as colleagues and friends. Email me (n8nns@yahoo.co.uk) about new developments , and I look forward to working with you in various guises in the future. As the famous footballer and actor Vinnie Jones said: “It’s been emotional…”
